Dhal

A simple and comforting lentil dish made with our Vindaloo curry paste.
Ingredients (6-8 servings)
- 540 g dry red lentils
- 1 jar (90 ml) Vindaloo curry paste
- 270 g onion
- 100 ml oil
- 2.4 L water
- Salt, to taste
Method
- Rinse the lentils under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Bring the water to a boil and add the lentils with a pinch of salt.
- Cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the lentils are soft and the texture becomes smooth.
- While the lentils are cooking, heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the onion and cook gently until soft and lightly golden.
- Add the Vindaloo curry paste to the onion.
- Cook together for 2–3 minutes, stirring well.
- Add the onion and curry paste mixture to the lentils.
- Stir to combine, taste and adjust salt if needed.
To serve
Serve warm with basmati rice and fresh coriander.
Extra (optional)
Add a dash or two of Fatakra hot sauce for extra heat.
